Hello and welcome to the September edition of the Brighton Person-Centred Community news.
The Community will be having both an in person and an online meeting this month. Both will be at the usual time - 9:30 to 12:30 - on Saturday 19th September - see below. Both will continue to happen each month and we are in discussion about whether one happens on a different date.
Also in this newsletter we have information on an opportunity to give support to NHS staff and an opportunity to get involved with a local counsellors organisation (SCAP). If you have anything you'd like to share that you think would be supportive for Community members or want to reach out for something yourself, do consider using this newsletter as a way to do so.
Physical meeting: For full information please see the previous news update, headed Community Meetings - September Update posted on 31st August.
If you want to give advance notice of attending, please contact William at email@example.com.
The meeting will take place at the usual time of 9.30-12.30 this Saturday 19th September. As it's online there will be no fee to attend. To join the meeting just copy the link into your browser
Join Zoom Meeting, click here - or copy and paste the following link into your browser.
Meeting ID: 873 2492 8575
If you find that it isn't allowing you to connect (or says the meeting hasn't started yet), you might wish to try searching in the Zoom app (you'll need it downloaded to do this) using the meeting ID provided. It will then ask you for the password.
Make sure you're ready a bit before the meeting starts to check your online set up and have your cup of tea ready!
If you'd like to express a preference regarding the timing of meetings going forward please contact William on firstname.lastname@example.org and give your thoughts. Let us know if you do want to attend in person or online, and if you're in favour of either meeting staying on the third Saturday of the month or moving to a different weekend
Got some free time? Want to support NHS staff?
Frontline19 is a portal to match NHS staff in need with online therapy providers who are willing to provide support pro bono. You sign up, say what your credentials are and how many hours a week you feel able to offer.
Ever considered contributing to Sussex Counselling?
SCAP (Sussex Counselling & Psychotherapy) is an organisation which many of you may be members of or be aware of. They provide a directory of counsellors, a magazine and CPD events. They are in need of people to join their committee and also need someone to be Secretary. It could be great for your CV and networking and you might really enjoy it! So do consider if you can give a little time to help SCAP continue the work that we value.
If you can volunteer a little time you will get
free membership for a year
free attendance at a CPD event if you are helping out there
networking with other counsellors
experience of working in a team to organise things
hours spent working for the group can count towards CPD
You would need to
Attend 5 meetings this year (on zoom currently)
Possibly help with stuffing the magazine into envelopes three times a year
Possibly be a link person for Newly Qualified Counsellors
