April Newsletter

The latest news from the Brighton Person-Centred Community...

Hello and welcome to the April edition of the Brighton Person-Centred Community news.

Things have changed a lot since the last newsletter and we hope you are managing to adapt to these challenges we are facing. The good news is that the Community can now happen in an online group meeting, so we can still offer each other support and connection through this time. There is further info on this online group on - Saturday 18th April - and how to join, below.

Also in this newsletter we have information on an opportunity to give support to NHS staff and on some online experiences you may find supportive yourself. If you have anything you'd like to share that you think would be supportive for Community members or want to reach out for something yourself, do consider using this newsletter as a way to do so.

Community meetings online

The meeting will take place at the usual time of 9.30-12.30 on Saturday 18th April. As it's online for now there will be no fee to attend. To attend you will need to reserve a space through eventbrite You will then get an auto confirmation which includes the link to the 'virtual meeting room' on Zoom. You'll receive confirmation of the webinar details and links, and a follow up email 48hrs prior to the meeting. On the day you simply click on the link and you automatically join the virtual meeting. Make sure you're ready a bit before the meeting starts to check your online set up and have your cup of tea ready!

Got some free time? Want to support NHS staff?

Need low cost support yourself? Try Focusing!

Focusing is a great tool for support, resourcing and grounding during these difficult times. Focusing helps us listen to the body’s knowing about how we are and what we need. April sees a range of flexible options for receiving support online Focusing could be a regular practice to cope with this period of isolation and something to do with others for support.

Community Meetings (currently suspended)

Community Meetings are normally held on the third Saturday at each month at the Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF. We meet upstairs, usually in room 3, but the room number will be indicated on the whiteboard which is next to the Reception desk. Newcomers are always welcome. We will notify you here and via the newsletter once we know that the face-to-face meetings are starting up again. Once that happens come along, say hi and see what it’s all about!

The meeting runs from 9:30 to 12:30, but arrive a little earlier to give yourself time to prepare a drink. The cost is £5 to cover hire of room and tea, coffee and biscuits.
