Hello and welcome to the April edition of the Brighton Person-Centred Community news.
We are still meeting this weekend even though it's the Easter weekend. So do join us if you would like some Easter fellowship, or if you want to get away from chocolate/commercialism/family (delete as appropriate!) We will be meeting this Saturday 20th April. See below for details.
Four Day Encounter Group in Wales
Enjoy encountering and connecting with other Person Centred people? This is your chance to really settle into a longer experience of this, when perhaps more can happen than in just a few hours. Get to know yourself, others and the nature of groups in this beautiful setting. It's an international event and you can pay monthly. Have a look! Encounter events 3rd-7th July
The Counselling and Psychotherapy Union
Did you know there's a Union you can join as a counsellor? PCU was founded in 2016 to support therapists and the future of our profession. It costs between £1 and £5 per month and they can support you with:
· workplace disciplinary and grievance procedures
· complaints processes
· bullying, harassment and discrimination
· problems with training organisations
· contract vetting
· whistleblowing-related problems
· organisational dysfunction
· threatened closure of trainings and organisations
· issues of discrimination, difference and diversity
Free membership of BAPCA!
BAPCA (British Association for the Person Centred Approach) has recently changed its name to simply The Person-Centered Association. All trainees (or people qualified less than a year) can now join for free for a year. Sign up on their website. Benefits of membership are a great members' magazine - Person Centred Quarterly, an academic journal - Person Centred and Experiential Psychotherapies, free listing in the therapists directory, reduced fees for a variety of things and a general sense of connection to the wider Person Centred Community.

Community Meetings are held on the third Saturday at each month at the Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF (see map). We meet upstairs, usually in room 3, but the room number will be indicated on the whiteboard which is next to the Reception desk. Newcomers are always welcome, come along, say hi and see what it’s all about!
The next meeting at the Friends Meeting House is Saturday 20th April. The meeting runs from 9:30 to 12:30, but arrive a little earlier to give yourself time to prepare a drink. The cost is £5 to cover hire of room and tea, coffee and biscuits.
We have an ever growing presence on Facebook and Twitter, so join us there, if you haven't already :) it's a great way to share updates on Community stuff and Counselling related articles.
If you see anything interesting that you'd like to share with the Community please feel free to post to our Facebook page, tweet us, or send by e-mail to email@example.com and we'll share it for you.
