Newsletter - August 2018
The latest news from the Brighton Person-Centred Community...
Hello and welcome to the August edition of the Brighton Person-Centred Community news.
Happy Summer Holidays! We will still be meeting through the summer months and our next meeting is this Saturday 18th August. See below for details.
Meeting to discuss future CPD events
Now that we have a new Training Team nearly in place (and with lots of juicy ideas for CPD for your future delectation) we have been turning to some of the more logistical issues again. After our September meeting we will have a thirty minute meeting to discuss issues to do with pricing of workshops. Anyone is welcome to attend. It is being discussed whether we should have more fee options or change any of the fees, so if you have an opinion, come along or let us know.
Also, we're aware that for some people attending workshops on Saturdays may be difficult or impossible. We'd like to gauge the interest in evening or weekday workshops. If you'd be interested in us trying to facilitate this then either come along to the meeting or reply to this email.
Work on the website
Do you have an interest in web development or experience using the Wix platform? Or do you feel you have an aptitude to develop and fancy a new project? We're aware that our website needs a bit more work on it than we think we can manage amongst us at present. It would be great to have someone with the time and enthusiasm to do bits of maintenance here and there but also help us to get the website more current and exciting. If this might be you then please don't hesitate to let us know. There will be support from the rest of us.
Closed Facebook group
When I (Suzi) joined the PC Community a few years back I was also new to Sussex and wanting to make connections with people on a more personal level, as well as participating in a PC group. I remember wishing that the PC Community had a closed Facebook group (as well as the Open to all page). I am reflecting on this idea again and wondering if this is something anyone else would have an interest in? I would need to think about the logistics and if I have time to administer it but I would like to gauge interest, so if you're interested please email me directly on firstname.lastname@example.org. Some benefits of a closed group are that people can have conversations that are just seen by members of the closed group and potentially message eachother, perhaps enhancing that sense of intimacy in our community and creating a bit more of a sense of continuity for those who may not be able to attend meetings regularly but still want to stay connected. Let me know what you think!

Community Meetings are held on the third Saturday at each month at the Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF (see map). We meet upstairs, usually in room 3, but the room number will be indicated on the whiteboard which is next to the Reception desk. Newcomers are always welcome, come along, say hi and see what it’s all about!
The next meeting at the Friends Meeting House is Saturday 18th August. The meeting runs from 9:30 to 12:30, but arrive a little earlier to give yourself time to prepare a drink. The cost is £5 to cover hire of room and tea, coffee and biscuits.
