PCC Planning Meeting Report
Tuesday, November 17, 2009
PRESENT: Di, Lasy, Antonia, Sandy & Joy
Initial business:
- March PC community meeting to be re-arranged to 2nd week of March 2010 (or 4th if 2nd not possible)
- Rule of thumb around workshop dates - to have about 5 workshops spread through the year (more than that and they don't pull in the numbers) - so ideally about 2 months apart.
- Beth Friere - we wanted to know if her UPR workshop could be more of a part 2 than a repeat of the last one? If it is part 2 then possible for end Jan early Feb... otherwise definitely not until Nov 2010
- Yes please to Andy/2 x Alliance speakers to come in 2010 - would like them to help us understand all the detail / politics... but also to spend time visioning (i.e. what are the alternatives, how do we take things forward, practical planning?)
Discussion and ideas:
- Some of our ideas for future workshops were:
- Congruence - Gill Wyatt
- Supervision - Dave Mearns wife (couldn't remember her name)
- Groupwork - Irene Fairhurst
- Website and wiki's - Terry is going to finish the workshop data entry page so that Paul can add info himself directly into the site. Sandy is looking into private wiki's so that we can have a discussion forum linked to the site. Possibly good if Terry and Sandy connect - maybe via Skype as Terry in Abu Dhabi from Mon for 4 weeks (his skype ID is LTA006)
- Learning and development days - we decided we would book Community Base for a Saturday in early Feb - this would be for members of PCC to run workshops, share their experience and knowledge (mentioned focusing, experience of 12 step meeting, open space etc)
- Use some of our funds (Lasy suggested £1k) on the following:
- Library idea - to buy some books and have them available to PC community members (maybe we can always buy a book from the visiting speakers/facilitators too?), start with the PC meetings and have a lending system?
- Subsidising low cost counselling and/or helping student PC counsellors - two ideas, one was getting in touch with Laurel ref the low cost counselling she has been trying to set up, the other was "As you are" which is a low cost counselling service in Southwick.
- Also talked about the importance of members going and talking about the PCC to counselling students at the colleges / universities in the area
