This one day workshop offers counsellors and psychotherapists an opportunity to explore what love means in therapy relationships. We will look at what love means to us in our work and what might stop us talking about it.

There will be theoretical input covering the many aspects of love present in therapy including the sexual, political and spiritual and what an ethic of love might be in practice. The risks, costs and challenges of love in a therapeutic context will be part of the exploration.

The workshop is based on client and therapist experiences and there will be plenty of time for discussion as well as presentation and handouts.

Suzanne Keys has been based in London working as a person-centred therapist, supervisor and group facilitator for the past 12 years. She has worked in a drop-in for people who are street drinkers and homeless, a hospice, a women's centre and in private practice. She has facilitated groups in France, Martinique and throughout the UK. She currently works with young people at Newham Sixth Form College and as a trainer on a counselling diploma at the City Lit in London and Temenos in Sheffield.

She has edited two books, one on idiosyncratic practice and the other on work with children and young people. She has also written chapters on human rights and practice, training, ethics and prayer. She recently co-edited a special issue of the international Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapies Journal on Gender and Therapy.
